The latest S-Electro (2021) from XDS is a head turner. And something that we never would have expected from the brand. But it does show they are actually listening to their customers.
Usually conservative, XDS has designed an electric mountain bike (E-MTB) that’s modern, stable, confidence inspiring and where components are intelligently chosen for this build (rims, hubs, suspension and suspension travel etc.).
The S-Electro is going to appeal to:
Riders who want a ‘Trail’ hardtail. The slack head tube angle, 29-inch wheels and wide volume 2.60-inch tyres deliver traction, control and stability So if you decide to feel adventurous and decade to ride mountain bike trails at (such as Lysterfield Park, Red Hill or Silvan), the S-Electro must be on your shortlist. The combination of the above traits deliver a grounded, stable character to the bike. An addition of a dropper seat post, allows riders to use a handlebar mounted lever to drop the seat out the way and actually enjoy (and have more control) on descents.
Or, if you want a bike that has a comfortable seating position; upright and relaxed and just want to cruise bike paths, rail trails, and suburbia.
Bafang delivers the powertrain. A 95Nm motor delivers strong torque to get you up steep, technical terrain with ease. A 450Wh (Watt-hour) battery delivers good range and the neat LCD display tells you simple metrics such as speed, distance, assistance mode (5 of these), battery usage and more.
