Before the arrival of the TaylorMade SIM Max Driver, golfers had to weigh up the pros and cons between an ultra-forgiving, high-MOI driver, or a powerful, yet unstable forward CG position - to achieve optimum launch conditions. The ability to combine these two characteristics was impossible…until now!
The New TaylorMade SIM Driver defies the laws of driver engineering with their latest offering, which manages to combine ideal launch conditions, higher MOI and advanced aerodynamics in a high-performing premium package. Thanks to its unique multi-material construction, this new 2020 TaylorMade Driver relies on advanced shaping to create TaylorMade’s most effective driver to date.
With the TaylorMade SIM’s predecessor: the TaylorMade M6 Driver, the main focus was around MOI with the inclusion of the extremely effective Inertial Generator. The only issue TaylorMade found with this addition was that the innovation increased drag on the downswing. So, for 2020, the Inertia Generator is rotated, giving golfers up to an extra 2 mph clubhead speed from the tee.
After the huge gains in ball speeds from the 2019 drivers, the 2020 TaylorMade SIM Drivers include the Injected Twist Face to optimise the ball speeds across the entire face. Prior to the injection process, the 2020 TaylorMade driver would be non-conforming due to the sheer speed from the face. However, with the ability to remove speed, all the TaylorMade SIM Drivers sit precisely on the limit of COR - creating explosive ball speeds from the tee.
Three drivers with the 2020 TaylorMade Driver range target three different golfers. The TaylorMade SIM Driver offers a Midsize Face on a 460cc Multi-Material head and is optimised for Speed & Forgiveness with an Adjustable CG location. The TaylorMade SIM MAX features an 8% Larger Face and is engineered to generate Maximum MOI for unparalleled stability. For the golfers that struggled with the damaging slice, the TaylorMade SIM MAX D features an 18% larger face and is constructed with draw biased aesthetics and functionality.

Also featuring the reinvented V Steel for exceptional versatility from all lies, the SIM Max is designed for higher launch and peak trajectories, with extremely long distance and improved playability.
The ZATECH Titanium face is breakthrough in materials technology that enables TaylorMade engineers to push the limits of speed in a titanium fairway wood. It’s the first time TaylorMade has used this rare and ultra-strong material in the construction of a metalwood.
The iconic V Steel design has been reinvented with the new SIM family of fairway metals. Advanced shaping combines with a V Steel™ sole to improve turf interaction and playability from various lies.
A more rounded leading edge improves the club’s initial contact with the turf, while the V Steel sole further raises heel and toe sections of the sole away from the ground and improves versatility.
These design features combine to significantly reduce turf contact area in SIM, SIM Max and SIM Max•D fairways, reducing ground friction which can positively influence both clubhead speed and ball speed.

TaylorMade SIM Max Rescue
As a long-iron replacement, it’s imperative that hybrids be versatile and playable in all conditions. That’s why TaylorMade has incorporated V Steel technology into a hybrid for the first time in the company’s history with SIM Max Rescue. The clubhead is engineered to deliver improved turf interaction and reduced friction when playing from various lies.
A reshaped leading edge works in conjunction with V Steel to further improve playability and strike conditions. Designers rounded the toe and adjusted the face angle to give SIM Max Rescue a more confidence-inspiring shape at address for all levels of golfers.It utilises the same C300 Steel face used in the SIM MAX fairway woods to help improve ball speed, durability and overall performance.
